What we can provide to your university and students
We can provide students the chance to supplement their degree by volunteering with us. Students can choose to do their placement at our academy in Rwamagana. Our academy offers students the chance to be involved in a community sports based development project from its infancy. They will be able to observe the nature of young peoples' lives in Rwanda, how they are educated and the future prospects that lie ahead of them. They will be able to share the knowledge they have acquired in univeristy and put it to practice, observing how theories and models can map on to real world situations.
What your university and students can provide for us
We are always after a helping hand. Aside from the day-to-day running of the academy we need people to help us build upon our educational and developmental curriculum. We aim to deliver the best opportunities we can for our students. To do this we need people to work with us on creating teaching programs, nutritional workshops, events and communitiy outreach programs. We need active, enthusiastic individuals who are willing to apply the knowledge they have garnered in university, to create opportunites for young Rwandans.
Equally the benefits sport can yield for development are widely accepted, and sport is seen as being a useful driving force in achieving international development targets such as the UN's Millenium Development Goals. However, despite this international held belief, there is very little academic evidence to support sport's positive influence on development. We would like to see this change, and are eager to work with those who would be interested in pursuing the study of sports impact on development.
